What I'm Reading

1/16/12 I am not doing a great job keeping up with multiple pages but am going to try to do better.  I finished reading the third book of the Hunger Games trilogy late last night.  Mockingjay did a great job of wrapping up the series.  My favorite of the trilogy was the second book, Catching Fire.  Some friends have told me it was their least favorite, but to each his own.  The trilogy is pretty heavy, so for my next book choice, I decided that it is time to laugh.  Tina Fey's Bossypants, which after just a few pages promises to deliver a laugh a minute.

12/27/11 I am in the middle of The First Patient by Michael Palmer.  In addition to being a Media Specialist, I am also a Registered Nurse and enjoy reading medical mysteries.  I have read all of Robin Cook's and Michael Crichton's books.  The First Patient is fast-paced and edgy.

The Hunger Games

During Winter Break, I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  This book has been very popular with our fifth graders, so I wanted to see what was grabbing their attention.  To put it simply, The Hunger Games is this generation's 1984.  The plot is exciting, the characters are interesting, and the ending leaves the reader ready for the sequel.  For me the most intriguing element in the novel is the lead character's inability to trust.
